After a frustrating 2–0 defeat to Long Eaton United that ended their four-match winning streak, Coleshill Town returned to form with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over local rivals Sutton Coldfield Town at Pack Meadow.

From the first whistle, The Colemen looked determined to make amends. Their attacking intent was clear, pressing high and creating early chances. The home crowd thought they had the breakthrough in the 6th minute when a corner was met powerfully by Taylor Carter-Byrne, whose header crashed off the underside of the bar and bounced down. Supporters erupted, convinced the ball had crossed the line, but the referee and assistant waved play on, ruling no goal.

Despite the disappointment, Coleshill maintained their momentum. While their efforts didn’t overly trouble the Sutton keeper, they remained the more threatening side. The breakthrough finally came in the 33rd minute. A trademark long throw from Ben Usher-Shipway caused chaos in the box, with two defenders and Harry Sweeney contesting the ball. It looped high toward goal, and Carter-Byrne reacted quickest, volleying home to give Coleshill the lead.

The second half saw both sides battle with intensity, but Coleshill continued to edge the attacking exchanges. Sutton Coldfield showed flashes of threat, yet couldn’t find a way past a resolute Coleshill backline. On-loan Bermudan international goalkeeper Dale Eve had a quiet afternoon between the sticks, with very little to do and not a single save required.

For Harry Harris’s side, the win which finds them in 9th place, was a timely response and a reaffirmation of their resilience. With the derby bragging rights secured and momentum regained, The Colemen will look to build again as they push forward in their campaign.

Next up for Coleshill is the defence of their Walsall Senior Cup title away against Wolverhampton Casuals on Tuesday 4th November. That’s followed by a tough trip to league leaders Carlton Town on the 8th, before returning to Pack Meadow for their next home fixture against Basford United on the 15th.
