For the third and final meeting between the sides this season, Coleshill Town once again came out on top—this time in the Birmingham Senior Cup—securing a place in the quarter‑finals and taking the head‑to‑head series 2–1.

First Half: Coleshill on the front foot

Coleshill dominated the opening 45 minutes, dictating possession and carving out the better chances. Rugby struggled to create anything clear, while The Colemen pushed forward with intent, forcing corners and half‑openings.

Despite the pressure, neither side managed to find the target with any real conviction, and the half closed goalless at 0–0.

Second Half: The game comes alive

Both teams emerged with renewed purpose. Coleshill immediately forced a flurry of corners in the opening five minutes, but the final touch inside the box continued to elude them.

Rugby’s goalkeeper was increasingly busy, producing several important saves to keep Coleshill at bay.

On the half‑hour mark, Rugby conceded a free‑kick just inside their own half. Quick thinking from Cleet saw him spot the keeper off his line and take it early—his effort drifting just wide of the post. It was a warning shot, and it sparked the game into life.

Rugby strike first

Three minutes later, Rugby won a free‑kick wide on the right. The delivery to the back post caused chaos, and after a scramble the ball was eventually bundled over the line to give the visitors a 1–0 lead.

Coleshill hit back through Marvellous

Coleshill responded superbly. Four minutes after falling behind, a driving attack down the left saw Ben Usher‑Shipway whip a dangerous ball across the six‑yard box. Marvellous arrived at the perfect moment, diverting it just inside the post to level the tie at 1–1.
The momentum swung firmly back to The Colemen. Ben went close again shortly after, curling a superb effort toward the back post, only for Rugby keeper Xander Grieves to produce a full‑stretch diving save. Moments later, Grieves tipped another strong strike around the post, keeping his side in the contest.

With no further goals, the match finished 1–1 and headed to penalties.

Penalty Shootout: Cam and Bassit seal it

Both sides converted their opening two penalties.

Rugby’s third was pushed onto the post and out, giving Coleshill the advantage—one they took by scoring their third to move 3–2 ahead.

Rugby’s fourth was then brilliantly saved by Cam, diving low to his right.
That left Bassit with the chance to win it. He struck his penalty at a good height for the keeper, but with enough pace and precision to nestle just inside the post. The keeper couldn’t quite reach it, and Coleshill sealed a 4–2 shootout victory.

Into the quarter‑finals

A hard‑fought cup tie, a spirited response, and a composed shootout performance see Coleshill Town progress to the quarter‑finals, where they will face Leamington.
The Colemen march on.
