A dramatic afternoon of chances, cards, courage… and a debut hero.
Coleshill Town’s trip to Wellingborough delivered everything except a quiet moment. From the first whistle the tempo was electric, with The Colemen carving out three good chances inside the opening three minutes. The early pressure set the tone, but Wellingborough responded in kind — breaking at pace, going long, and carving out chances of their own that were far closer to finding the net.
Thankfully for Coleshill, Cam was in inspired form, producing two sharp, close‑range saves to keep the scores level and continue his excellent shot‑stopping run this season.
Early setback for Wellingborough
On 31 minutes the game paused for a worrying moment as Danny Draper suffered a nasty injury. Everyone at Coleshill Town sends him our very best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
The chances kept flowing at both ends in what was a genuinely even first half, but just before the break the match took its first major twist: McSkeane was shown a red card, leaving Coleshill with ten men for the entire second period.
SECOND HALF: Pressure, drama, and a flurry of cards
Wellingborough came out aggressively after the restart, using the extra man to push Coleshill back. Yet again, Cam stood tall — and 14 minutes into the half he produced another outstanding save, tipping a powerful effort over the bar.
Moments later, Bassit found space on the edge of the Wellingborough box, only to see a diving defender somehow head the ball clear.
The game’s physical edge then boiled over. A coming together between Allison and Furlong resulted in Furlong receiving the second red card of the match, while Lewis was forced off injured in the aftermath.
Wellingborough strike first
On 73 minutes, the hosts finally made their numerical advantage count. A deep cross to the far post found Lloyd Buckley, who rose well and guided a clever header back across goal to make it 1–0.
But the drama was far from over.
Just minutes later, Coleshill won a free‑kick — only for an off‑the‑ball incident to spark another double flash of red.Taylor Carter‑Byrne was dismissed, and Buckley received a second yellow, reducing both sides further and taking the tally to four red cards.
Late heroics and a debut to remember
With over five minutes of added time, The Colemen refused to accept defeat. A header from Mason Rees dropped loose inside the box, where Triston Dunckley pounced. He reached the ball first, was brought down by the keeper, and the referee pointed straight to the spot.
Up stepped debutant Ryan Boothe.Cool. Calm. Confident.
He sent the keeper the wrong way and buried the equaliser to spark huge celebrations from the home support.
