Coleshill Town fought back from two goals down to secure a dramatic 2–2 draw against Racing Club Warwick in an entertaining pre-season friendly at Pack Meadow on Saturday.
Manager Harry Harris took full advantage of the fixture to give valuable minutes to his squad, and while the hosts had to dig deep in the second half, a late resurgence ensured a deserved share of the spoils.
A Lively First Half
The early stages saw both sides trade chances without truly testing the men between the sticks. However, the game burst into life in the 21st minute. Coleshill broke down the right wing, leading to a deflected effort from new signing Michael Marshall. The ball fell to Tristan Dunckley, whose second effort was also blocked, looping high into the air. Ryan Andrews met it with a powerful header, forcing the Warwick goalkeeper into a brilliant catch right off the crossbar.
Just five minutes later, Coleshill came agonizingly close again when a clever chipped cross beat the keeper, only to bounce off the base of the post and trickle wide.
Racing Club Warwick posed plenty of threat of their own, coming closest on 38 minutes with a dangerous strike that required a sharp double save from Coleshill keeper Cameron Belfield to keep the scores level at the break.
Warwick Strike First
The visitors came out of the blocks quickly in the second half, firing a warning shot with a few early efforts that whistled wide.Their pressure paid off 12 minutes into the restart. Intercepting a Coleshill goal-kick, Warwick worked the ball cleanly to Conner Keene, who slotted past Belfield to break the deadlock and make it 0-1.
Eight minutes later, Warwick doubled their lead. Hitting Coleshill on a swift counter-attack directly from a Colehill corner, the visitors broke up the pitch in transition and calmly finished to put the hosts two goals down.
The Colemen Comeback
Refusing to let the game slip away, Coleshill responded with real character, pushing forward and creating a flurry of chances.The lifeline arrived in the 78th minute (33 minutes into the half). Coleshill won a corner that caused confusion in the Warwick penalty area, resulting in a defender turning the ball into his own net to make it 1-2.
With momentum firmly on their side, Coleshill pushed for the equalizer—and it arrived five minutes from time. Another well-earned corner was whipped into the box by Ben Usher-Shipway, where Taylor Carter-Byrne met it cleanly, redirecting the ball into the net to complete the comeback at 2-2.An encouraging run-out for Harris’s side, showing plenty of grit and attacking spark as pre-season preparations continue.
